The policies we fight for today will shape the rail network of tomorrow—and we need your help to ensure those seeds take root.

Dear Mark,
Over the past year, your support has kept the Rail Passengers Association fighting to defend Bipartisan Infrastructure Law programs against efforts to “pause” or quietly freeze already-awarded grants. We’ve worked with allies on Capitol Hill to block shortsighted Amtrak budget cuts, pressed for long-overdue reforms to speed project delivery and permitting, and pushed the Department of Transportation to live up to the promise of our hard-won 2021 once-in-a-generation rail investment.
We’ve also taken a seat — your seat — at the Surface Transportation Board’s new Passenger Rail Advisory Committee, where I’ve joined 20 other members to make sure passengers’ voices are heard as we tackle on-time performance, equipment shortages, the liability-insurance threat to rail operators, and the bottlenecks that hold back better service.
Even with all this progress, we know the real test lies ahead. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s five-year horizon is already winding down, and Congress will soon turn its attention to the next surface transportation reauthorization. We can’t allow that historic $66 billion rail investment to become a one-off. Your Association is already shaping proposals to ensure that 2026 marks not the end of the Second Rail Revolution, but its expansion — a sustained national commitment to trains that are frequent, reliable, and accessible to every American.
As a small IRS-recognized nonpartisan 501(c)3, the Rail Passengers Association relies on your partnership and financial support to do this work. Help us represent YOUR seat at the Washington tables. Donate Today! With Determination,
Jim Mathews
President & CEO
P.S. Designated a 4-star charity by Charity Navigator, we are proud of our fiscal responsibility. Rest assured that your donation will be used in the most effective and efficient way, ensuring the highest level of support the Rail Passengers Association’s mission.

It is essential that we defend and fight for a modern, national passenger rail network. The Rail Passengers Association advocates on behalf of America's rail passengers for improved, expanded, and safer train service.
