JFK assassination
There was a near-identical plot about 3 weeks previous to Dallas (motorcade in Chgo) that also had a patsy (not Oswald) set up in a bldg overlooking the motorcade route that was foiled when an informant named "Lee" told the FBI about it.
This is little known with the Secret Service illegally destroying its records on that.
Lee Harvey Oswald told his friends and Russian wife that he liked and supported Kennedy.
There was a CIA 201 file on Oswald. These files are only made on EMPLOYEES of the CIA, a spying on spies thing.
The rabid, fanatical CIA and military viewed Kennedy as soft on Communism. They saw the resolution of the Cuban missile crisis as Kennedy appeasing Khrushchev! when we and they all have K & K to thank that we are all still here.
The J Chiefs of Staff pressured him to launch a preemptive nuclear strike against the Sov Un and (thank God) he refused.
Nuclear winter apparently never occurred to them.
Add in the Bay of Pigs where for them JFK was supposed to order air support for the invasion, his desire to pull out of V Nam, a speech he made at American Univ strongly urging peace (covered widely in the Sov Un, but hardly covered here where the CIA widely infiltrated news rooms and most likely still does), his efforts to shut down continual raids on Cuba by the anti-Castro exiles, and you have a bunch of reasons for the CIA/military utter fanatics to get rid of him.
And, they "won."
They vastly escalated the V Nam war under LBJ with its millions of deaths and all that other Cold War stuff with ever-increasing military budgets (even to this day of Biden), no reining in of the CIA which might have taken place had the House Select Committee on Assassinations correctly went after the CIA for killing JFK instead of making its investigators sign Secrecy Oaths! and so forth.
The HSCA, was the "son of" the Warren Commission. It had budget restraints and a time limit where the CIA stalled to just let the clock run out.
This one African leader deposed by a CIA-supported coup was shown a copy of the Warren report.
He turned to an early page listing the commissioners, pointed to the name of the CIA chief Kennedy had fired (Dulles), returned the book to its giver and said, "Whitewash."
Nuff said?
