Subject: ALERT: Israeli forces raided DCIP's office in Ramallah today
They confiscated computers and client files.
Dear Mark -- Early this morning, around 5 a.m., Israeli paramilitary border police broke into Defense for Children International - Palestine's headquarters in Ramallah. They confiscated computer equipment and files on Palestinian child detainees we represent in the Israeli military court system. Read and share the story about Israeli forces raiding DCIP's office »
No documents were left in the office to give any indication of the reason for the raid, and they did not leave behind any receipt of materials seized. This latest act by Israeli authorities is part of an ongoing campaign to silence and eliminate Palestinian civil society and human rights organizations like DCIP. Israeli authorities must immediately end their efforts which seek to delegitimize and criminalize Palestinian human rights defenders and civil society organizations. The international community must hold Israeli authorities accountable. Our office was empty at the time of the raid and our staff is physically safe. Thank you for the many wishes of solidarity and support we have already received—we are grateful to have you as part of our community. Please share our statement on the raid on Facebook and Twitter and continue standing in solidarity with Palestinian children. In solidarity, Khaled Quzmar General Director Defense for Children International - Palestine |
