Discussion: David Rind on Seth, Magical Approach, Climate Change
I am quite glad David Rind presented on this great challenge our human race has created and thought he did a pretty good job and that bringing in the Magical Approach to dealing with it is quite valuable.
So I thank him.
Some remarks:
We must recall what Seth has said about brains, "left" and "right":
From Session 794:
"The brain organizes activity and translates events, but it does not initiate them. Events have an electromagnetic reality that is then projected onto the brain for physical activation. Your instruments only pick up certain levels of the brain's activity. They do not perceive the mind's activity at all, except as it is imprinted onto the brain.
"Even dreams are so imprinted. When one portion or one half of the brain is activated, for example, the corresponding portion of the other half is also activated, but at levels scientists do not perceive. It is ridiculous to call one side or the other of the brain dominant, for the full richness of the entire earth experience requires utilization of both halves, as does dreaming.
"In dreaming, however, the full sense-picture usually projected by the brain, and reinforced by bodily action, is not necessary. Those dream experiences often seem out of joint or out of focus in morning' s hindsight, or in retrospect, simply because they occur with a complexity that the brain could not handle in ordinary waking terms."
The timeline/analysis of prevailing human consciousness David presents/analyzes (that of humans separating themselves from nature which Seth has spoken of) possibly overlooks:
"...there have been other great scientific civilizations; some spoken of in legend, some completely unknown — all in your terms now vanished."

One such prior civilization engaged in war:
"Sound was utilized far more effectively, not only for healing and in wars, but also to power vehicles of locomotion, and to bring about the movement of physical matter. Sound was a conveyor of weight and mass.
(9:34. When Jane spoke the word “wars,” above, her tone of voice and her facial expression had a “wouldn’t you know it” connotation.)"

So it is not clear how much ego prevailed in these prior civilizations. Perhaps varying amounts.
In connection with climate change is the issue of human overpopulation because if humanity consisted only of some scattered small tribes burning coal, say, the planet would likely not be much affected. But when fossil fuel-burning human numbers reach into the billions, things become a different story,
"In those terms overpopulation is a violation. In the cases of both war and of overgrowth, the species has ignored its natural guilt."

In The Early Sessions, Vol 9, Session 484 May 26, 1969, Seth speaks of previous overpopulation problems otherwise unknown to us:
"As a matter of fact there has been such a population problem in the past, in your terms, on several occasions and involving your planet. An earthwide epidemic took place on one occasion. On another occasion the number of conceptions was drastically reduced. The women’s fear of bearing children alone made them barren when starvation loomed. The third time artificial means were utilized to prevent birth."
As for male/female differences, I see these as connected to humanity's separation from nature/ego-boundness* as these differences are not innate as discussed in The Nature of the Psyche:
"Generally speaking, there will be a specific overall sexual orientation of a biological nature, but the mental and emotional human characteristics are simply not meted out according to sex. Such identification cuts the individual in half, so that each person uses but half of his or her potential. This causes a schism in all of your cultural activities."

This is one of the sneakiest things Seth ever said:
"Such massive liberations of energy [he is commenting on the Chicago Dem Convention unrest] will be used, but not in your lifetime [apparently Jane and Rob's], to begin to unify the whole planet, in peace. This will not happen before disasters also occur, but when it does happen it will represent the first such time within the planet's history where there was peace with equality for all.
"There have been various periods that were peaceful, but there was not equality. There have been countless other civilizations that have destroyed themselves in the planet's past, and before this when another planet was approximately in earth's position*. There were however civilizations that endured, that outlasted their planet, and went elsewhere."

"Garden variety" disasters such as earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, etc. are ongoing. Why would he mention disasters unless he is talking about something "above and beyond" "garden variety" disasters?
I can't find the quote, but Seth somewhere said something like humankind often has the tendency of not making needed changes until it becomes completely necessary.
Current measures (per conventional thinking) to curb climate change are not even half measures. They are not even 1/32 measures.
This all sounds scary, but:

The discussion about the areas of the brain involved in either temporal, individual thinking (left) or unitary moment-by-moment thinking (right) did not necessarily imply that the thoughts originated in them. It now seems much more likely, at least to some, that the brain acts as a receiver, picking up signals from the universal Mind; a good book on that subject is "An End to Upside Down Thinking" by Mark Gober. This is more in line with Seth's comment. In that context, the implication is that the two hemispheres are 'tuned' to different frequencies or channels.

The idea that the two brain hemispheres have individual characteristics gains added credence by the work of Jill Bolte Taylor, as explained in her books "My Stroke of Insight" and "Whole Brain Living". As you may know, she is a brain scientist who suffered a stroke that took her left hemisphere 'off-line'. It took her 8 years to get it back working again. In the meantime, she lived a complete right brain existence - something no one else has probably ever experienced in this society, at least no one who has ever then brought back their left hemisphere and thus was able to talk about it. The world she experienced from that vantage point is laid out in those books, and contrasted with the world she saw before and after, when her left hemisphere was fully functioning. Correspondingly, brain activation diagrams were used to correlate which areas of the brain were getting more blood flow, and thus were more active at various points in time (as in Robert Waggoner's presentation on Lucid Dreaming). With respect to Seth's comment, undeniably in healthy individuals both hemispheres are acting all the time, and the richness of our experience requires both - but that doesn't mean they don't have different characteristics, and some are more expressed in one individual than others. It would appear that the 'dual' nature Seth indicates we possess - an individual aspect, and an "All That Is" aspect - seem to be represented by these two 'brains' (and life therefore did not simply provide anatomical duplication).

Thank you for your response.
We must bear in mind that our camouflage instruments can only measure camouflage.

The brain is itself part of the camouflage pattern, and can be interpreted and probed by physical instruments. The mind cannot be probed by physical instruments. It cannot even be found by physical instruments. The mind is the connective. It is here that the secrets of the universe will be discovered, and the mind itself is the tool of discovery."

It is also possible in my mind -- heh -- that prevailing scientific beliefs color what gets observed. Given how science is so materialist based (not recognizing they are examining camouflage), the body is seen rather like how a garage mechanic regards and works on a car.
