In the end, it took a tie-breaking vote from Vice President JD Vance for Donald Trump’s disastrous “Big Beautiful Bill” to pass in the Senate. (As per the Constitution, when the Senate is deadlocked, the vice president casts the deciding vote.)

Before his fateful vote, Vance brushed aside the catastrophic and intentional effects of the legislation — like taking health coverage away from millions of Americans and slashing Medicaid by over $1 trillion — as nothing but “minutiae” and “immaterial.”

The Senate version of the bill is even worse than the version that first came out of the House of Representatives. So now the legislation goes back to the House, and if it passes there, it will land on Trump’s desk, where he will sign it into law.

This farce of a bill would likely constitute the single biggest upward transfer of wealth in our nation’s entire history. And we have one more chance to stop it before the House votes.

  The United States Senate is voting on the massive budget legislation that Donald Trump and his MAGA sycophants in Congress have ridiculously dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
  
  More like the Gargantuan Grotesque Giveaway.
  
  Here are just a few ways MAGA Republicans want to hurt everyday Americans with this legislative travesty — just so they can lock in even more tax breaks for their billionaire and Big Business puppet masters:
  

  • At least 16 million Americans would lose health coverage.

  • Medicaid would be slashed by over $1 trillion. Even though these craven politicians will look right into a television camera and say they aren’t “touching” Medicaid.

  • The federal government’s essential Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (what used to be known as “food stamps”) would lose over $200 billion. That’s on top of massive cuts in food assistance since the Trump regime returned to power — at a time when food insecurity has risen in all 50 states since 2021.

  • The Pentagon would get an additional $150 billion. Here’s where we note that the Pentagon has never passed an audit and is the greatest source of waste, fraud, and abuse in the entire federal government by far.

  • Big Oil would get $18 billion in new handouts while wind and solar programs would be gutted by additional taxes. Humanity is rushing toward a climate cliff, and MAGA is jamming its foot on the gas pedal.

  • The Trump regime would get $150 billion to supercharge its campaign of militant xenophobia, including enough for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and similar agencies to hire thousands of additional personnel.

  • A last-minute provision Republicans are trying to sneak in would prevent states from enacting commonsense regulations on artificial intelligence — even to block the spread of political or intimate deepfakes.

  This farce of a bill would likely constitute the single biggest upward transfer of wealth in our nation’s entire history.
  
  Tell the Senate:
  
  Many senators seem to be asking everyday Americans to accept losing health coverage, going hungry, or otherwise suffering just so billionaires and Big Business can pay even less of their fair share. How does that possibly make sense? Do not pass the legislative travesty known as the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
