Seth Weekly Wisdom: A State of Grace

👋 Dear Mark M,
Welcome to this week’s second edition of Seth Weekly Wisdom. We apologize for last week’s technology blip, but of course, we won’t short you an edition.
In the United States, where most of our team is based and where the Seth Center was founded, it’s the Thanksgiving holiday. While this tradition has roots in colonization and conquest, it has also evolved into a day where many gather in appreciation and gratitude with those they love. Last year, we explored Seth’s teachings on appreciation. This year, we want to turn our attention to grace.
💬 Quote of the Week
'In one way, a state of grace or illumination happens where there is the greatest poised balance of the conscious mind with other levels of the psyche and body — a biological and spiritual recognition of the individual’s wholeness within himself and his relationship with the universe at large.
'The aware mind’s great leeway through the intellect, and its connection with the senses, makes it possible for any singly insignificant event to trigger such experience…
'The conscious mind can, for instance, see a rose as a symbol of life or death, or joy or sadness, and under certain conditions its interpretation of a simple flower can trigger deep experiences that call up power and strength from the inner resources of being. Since the attributes of egotistical consciousness have been so misinterpreted, you usually consider it only in its analytical breaking-down functions…But the conscious mind is also a great synthesizer. It brings together diverse elements from your experience and unites them in new patterns.
'These organizations then serve as awakeners or stimulation to inner portions of the self, always providing it with fresh experience. The inner self responds through the richness of its own psychic fabric, sending up, so to speak, ever-new particularized abilities to meet the exterior circumstances.'

Commentary:
Grace is one of this author’s favorite topics in the Seth material. It speaks to the inherent sacredness of life that can never be gained or lost. As Seth teaches in a later session, grace is something we are born into, die into, that can never be taken from us. But what is so powerful about this quote in particular, is how the meaning we make in our lives can invite us into conscious awareness of our state of grace.
We are meaning-making beings. We draw connections between things, weaving mythic structures that live across generations. And each of us also forms private symbolic systems and personal mythologies that shape how we experience reality, whether we’re aware of them or not.
This meaning-making faculty is one of the most ancient and universal powers of the human intellect. And when the intellect is in balance with intuition and embodiment, it becomes a conduit to grace.
Being in a state of grace is not something we must strive for, perform goodness for, or pray ourselves into. It arises naturally when “the greatest poised balance of the conscious mind with other levels of the psyche and body — a biological and spiritual recognition of the individual’s wholeness within himself and his relationship with the universe at large.” In other words, it is the natural human state of being.
And one of the most beautiful things Seth points out is that any seemingly insignificant event can trigger this state. The conscious mind, when it is busy or preoccupied, might see a rose as just a rose—but it might also, on a certain day, notice it’s symbolic connection to life and death and love. The rose, like the harvest, like a holiday, is never just truly just a singular event or experience. It contains layers of meaning: ancestral, cultural, familial, personal.
This is why the holidays are often emotionally charged. They carry the weight of history, religion, family roles, and old stories. They are representations of belonging, loss, identity, and meaning. And yet, they also offer an invitation: to see ourselves as conscious co-creators in a living mythology.
As we consciously use this innate symbolic intelligence, we can invite more states of grace into our daily lives. We can bring awareness to the stories we are creating out of our experiences, and notice what roles we are assigning ourselves. Are we the hero or heroine of our unfolding? Are we being led through synchronicity and significance by the multidimensional self and the mystery of All That Is? Or are we battling alone in cold and cruel world?
This kind of awareness and active relationship with the symbolic layers of our intellect invites in the creative intelligence of our inner self. By recognizing the patterns and symbols moving through our days, we enter into a creative dance with the inner self that is as timeless as humans ourselves.
🔬 Experiment: Reclaiming Your Personal Mythology
This week, the invitation is explore your personal mythos. This is a chance to meet your inner narrative with creativity and personal empowerment.
Step 1: Write your myth.
Imagine your life as a mythic tale. Who are you at the center of it? A visionary? A healer? A hero or heroine? A witch or wizard in the woods with secret knowledge and sacred purpose? Describe the mythic version of you you most want to live into. What you’re here to learn, create, and embody.
Step 2: Describe how you face your trials.
In this imagined myth, how do you meet fear, isolation, and adversity? Are you the warrior who walks through darkness with courage? The priest or priestess who listens to dreams and symbols? The wild one who trusts the forest to speak? The alchemist who transforms wounds into wisdom? Write the story of how your archetypal self moves through challenge and what it feels like to face the unknown with support and inner knowing.
Step 3: Reflect on your current myth.
Now turn inward. What role(s) do you actually feel you are playing out in your life? The martyr who is never appreciated? The wanderer who’s always searching but never finds? The skeptic who doubts their own magic? The orphan who is never chosen? When trials arise, how do you really experience them? Be honest and compassionate with yourself as you explore the myths you’ve been unconsciously living.
Step 4: Compare the two.
Where do your imagined myths and current myths align and where do they diverge? What old story are you ready to release? What new one are you ready to claim?
Step 5: Carry a symbol forward.
Choose one symbol or archetype from your preferred myth to bring into your week. Let it guide your perspective, choices, and self-talk as a reminder of the larger story you are here to live and allow your inner self to fill in the support behind you.
