Trump’s plan to purge voters

Trump’s Department of Homeland Security recently created a new voter citizenship check system called “Overhauled SAVE”.
SAVE was supposed to be used for processing government benefits for immigrants.
But now the Trump Administration is turning it into a massive database with Social Security numbers for all Americans (driver’s licenses will be added soon as well) — and it wants states to run their voter rolls through the new database to detect non-citizen voters.
Like so many other programs this administration has assembled, Overhauled SAVE is deeply flawed. States using the new system are improperly accusing eligible voters around the country of being “non-citizens” and making them prove their citizenship in order to vote.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is accepting comments right now on Overhauled SAVE. Send a comment to DHS and speak out against this new voter purge system.
Even if your state isn’t willing to participate in this system, Overhauled SAVE could still pose a threat to you.
By collecting Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, and other information into one massive database, the Trump Administration is creating a tempting target for abuse both by members of the administration and by outside hackers.
We can’t trust Trump Administration officials to keep our data secure and to not use it for their own nefarious purposes.
Thanks for taking action,
George
