Tell the Senate: Don’t rubber stamp ICE aggression
 |
This week, the Senate is planning to vote on a package of bills to fund the government, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) — the department that houses ICE. The package includes an additional $64 billion for DHS, and that’s on top of the massive budget increase Trump and his right-wing allies handed it in their Big, Ugly Law last year. The Senate should not authorize more funding for DHS that rubber stamps the violence and lawlessness ICE and Border Patrol are carrying out across the country. Your senators should act now to rein in Trump, defend the Constitution, and protect your state from his cruel and reckless immigration policies. They should remove additional DHS funding from the government funding package unless it is coupled with the following conditions: Ending the reckless operation in Minnesota and pulling ICE and Border Patrol out of Minneapolis Preventing DHS from using any available funds for family detention Ending the Trump Administration’s unlawful and unconstitutional practices of arresting people and entering homes without warrants Fully cooperating with Minnesota state and local authorities in any investigation of the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, including sharing all evidence and making witnesses available
Momentum is building against ICE violence. Now is the time for the Senate to check Trump’s power and protect our communities.
Thanks for taking action, George Public Citizen |
