    Mark M–

Last September, Donald Trump issued NSPM-7, a new directive that could pose an existential threat to any nonprofit organization that dares to challenge him or his agenda.

And that includes nonprofit investigative news outlets like The Intercept.

First, a quick primer on what NSPM-7 says: Anyone espousing a sweeping range of political beliefs that conflict with the MAGA agenda should be considered a potential terrorist.

NSPM-7 then instructs the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces, the Treasury Department, and the IRS to pursue criminal probes.

If this sounds like the action of an authoritarian police state, that’s because it is. And yet the corporate media has almost entirely ignored NSPM-7.

The Intercept is digging deep to expose how this draconian directive is being implemented — and at the same time, we must prepare ourselves for the possibility of a long and costly legal fight in the event that we’re targeted as alleged “domestic terrorists” under NSPM-7.

That’s why we’re urgently asking our readers to donate whatever you can right now to support the hard-hitting investigative reporting of The Intercept — and to also help reinforce our internal security measures and legal defense team so we’re ready for whatever Trump throws at us.

NSPM-7 conflates constitutionally protected speech and political activism with “domestic terrorism,” a term that has no basis in U.S. law.

The directive then deems vaguely defined views like “anti-capitalism,” “anti-Christianity,” “radical gender ideologies,” and “hostility toward those who hold traditional American views” as indicators of terrorism.

This is not just theoretical. Last week, Attorney General Pam Bondi admitted to Congress that the Justice Department has already compiled a list of alleged “domestic terrorists” pursuant to NSPM-7. And the White House has already publicly accused The Intercept of “running cover for evil narcoterrorists trying to poison our homeland.”

The Intercept is one of the only investigative reporting outfits with the expertise and independence to expose the abuses being perpetrated under NSPM-7.

That’s also why we can’t ignore the possibility that we could be under surveillance right now and get a knock on the door at any moment.

As Trump escalates his attacks on free speech, fewer and fewer outlets are willing to challenge his administration head-on. But The Intercept won’t back down — and that’s exactly why we need your support now.
