Holding the Trump administration accountable to the people and the law
holding the Trump administration accountable to the people and the law

Mark,
The Trump administration’s lawlessness keeps losing in court. It may not feel like it, but the Trump administration is on its back foot.
The American public does not support unaccountable agencies running roughshod over American cities. They do not support Trump’s attempts to make it harder to vote. And they certainly do not support his escalating and offensive efforts to personally get even richer off his presidential power.
Public backlash is important—and so are the legal fights that hold the Trump administration accountable to the people and the law.
We know that the Trump administration has lost in court more than 70% of the time during Trump’s first year back in office. That’s a staggering statistic that reflects significant illegal conduct by the Trump administration and a lot of hard work to hold them accountable.
In just the past few weeks, we’ve had several important wins:
- We won a preliminary injunction in our lawsuit against Trump’s Department of Justice, requiring the agency to turn over records on an expedited basis regarding its efforts to compile sensitive voter data from millions of Americans across the country.
- In our lawsuit against Trump’s Office of Management and Budget, the court once again shut down the agency’s effort to keep its spending decisions secret. Russ Vought and OMB tried to leave the American public in the dark by burying the real information in secret spend plans in footnotes—and we didn’t let them get away with it.
- A federal district court in Washington state cited our amicus brief and ruled against Trump’s executive order attempting to exert federal control over elections.
- And last week, the Supreme Court unanimously rejected private prison company GEO Group's attempt to expand legal immunity to government contractors—just as we urged it to do in a brief that we filed in the fall.
Mark, these victories matter. They mean that the American people will have more information about what the government is doing and will help protect their right to vote and make their voices heard.
