No Kings, Mar 28, 2026 -- the largest day of protest in American history
largest day of protest in American history
- At least 8,000,000 people took part in some 3,300 “No Kings” rallies Saturday, spanning every continent on Earth. (Yes, even Antarctica!)
Millions and millions more were there in spirit and participated remotely by watching coverage on television or online.
It was the largest single day of protest in American history.
Together, the American people showed that resistance to the Trump regime’s authoritarianism is coming from every corner of this great country.
We demonstrated our commitment to nonviolence, our patriotism, our anger at the needless harm Trump is inflicting on the nation and the world, our rejection of his dictatorial ambitions, and — not least — our sense of humor.
As with the earlier “No Kings” events in June and October of last year, Public Citizen was one of the key organizations behind this latest and greatest installment — including our roles leading the outreach to bring in over 400 partner groups and overseeing some of the largest events in major metro areas.
Public Citizen Co-President Robert Weissman addressed the crowd of over 200,000 people at the flagship “No Kings” rally in St. Paul, Minnesota — along with Governor Tim Walz, Representative Ilhan Omar, Senator Bernie Sanders, and rock icon Bruce Springsteen.
Public Citizen Co-President Lisa Gilbert was all over the news — including MS NOW (“The Weekend”), ABC, Fox, and again on MS NOW (“The Beat with Ari Melber”).
This was protest with purpose.
Donald Trump and his cronies have spread the lie that their support is overwhelming and their policies are inevitable. “No Kings” proves those claims untrue. The Trump regime wants to intimidate opponents and chill dissent. They want people to be scared and isolated. With “No Kings,” we joined together to feel, and feed, our power — in overwhelming numbers.
Mass mobilizations remind us of the power of solidarity and love. We have great challenges ahead to defeat Trump’s authoritarianism. But — animated by the spirit and energy of “No Kings” — we will prevail.
What you and Public Citizen are doing together matters. What hundreds of other organizations, big and small, are doing matters. What millions upon millions of our fellow Americans are doing matters. We believe that to our core. We take solace in that. And we draw inspiration from that. We hope you do, too.
If you’ve donated to Public Citizen before, thank you. If a donation is not right, we understand. Either way, thank you for being part of Public Citizen.
For democracy, justice, and progress,
