Trump fired Noem–finally
Trump fired Noem–finally

Mark,
President Trump finally fired Kristi Noem yesterday. That’s good news—but it shouldn’t have taken him so long to do the right thing.
We’ve been demanding real oversight and calling for Noem’s firing since January.
Kristi Noem's time as DHS secretary was characterized by the lawless killings of American citizens, lies to try to explain away those killings and rampant apparent corruption.
But what apparently put it over the edge for Trump was when Congress finally did real oversight and her failures of leadership became more embarrassing for Trump. The president routinely promotes corruption that benefits him but has little tolerance for public corruption that does not. (You can see some of the highlights in our YouTube video that we released yesterday morning).
There's a lesson in Trump’s firing of Noem: Corruption is deeply unpopular. Oversight matters.
I’m going to keep this email short since it’s been a long and busy week, but I wanted to reach out with a simple message that our collective outrage about what we’ve seen from DHS and Noem put the pressure on—and it worked.
We should celebrate Noem’s firing for the victory that it is. And then we’ll get right back to work demanding a government that is actually accountable to the people.
We have a winning formula, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to expose the Trump administration’s corruption, take legal violations to court and challenge their secretive power grabs.
The American people deserve no less.
Thank you,
Donald Sherman
President
