On May 2nd 2026, four Freedom Flotilla boats set sail from Sicily for Gaza to deliver aid, support reconstruction efforts, and break Israel's illegal siege. Despite the "ceasefire", Palestinians in Gaza continue to live under occupation, airstrikes, severely limited aid, and displacement. Meanwhile, our governments remain active participants in arming and enabling the Israeli Occupation Forces.
Despite the illegal abduction on the high seas, torture, and continued detention of Global Sumud Flotilla participants, four boats including ones from Canada Boat to Gaza & Free Gaza Australia, are sailing anyways, determined to break the siege. On board are peaceful activists, medical professionals, and human rights defenders—a global coalition of conscience representing:
Australia (3), Belgium (3), Canada (5), Â Denmark (1), France (3), Italy (1), Portugal (2), South Korea (1), Spain (4), Â United Kingdom (1) and United States (5).
These four vessels (PERSEVERANCE, ADALAH, LINA AL-NABULSI and TENAZ), part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, carry much-needed aid and a unified message: solidarity with the Palestinian people and an urgent demand to end the blockade and genocide in Gaza. |

We call the Canadian authorities to immediately:Â
- Demand safe passage for flotilla participants to deliver aid into Gaza;
- Act on the legal obligation to end Israel’s genocide and illegal blockade on Gaza;
- Uphold the right of innocent passage and the safety of civilians in international waters, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea;
- Affirm the sovereign right of Palestinians in Gaza to free access corridors, by land and by sea, without restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation;
- Join the governments of Spain, Brazil and others in condemning Israel’s illegal abduction and detention of Flotilla participants in international waters.
