PFAW's Headquarters is ruffling feathers
Headquarters is ruffling feathers

Mark,
The White House just labeled our Headquarters project a “media offender.”
Not because we spread disinformation. Not because we endangered anyone. Not because we did anything wrong.
But because Headquarters is reaching millions of people with coverage that Trump does not like.
The White House is now using an official government website to single out critics, independent commentators, and media outlets it wants to discredit. Headquarters was targeted alongside major national news outlets and prominent online voices because our content is breaking through, shaping the conversation, and clearly ruffling feathers inside the Trump White House.
That should alarm everyone who cares about free speech, a free press, and the right to criticize those in power.
But it should also tell us something important: Headquarters is having an impact.
The Trump administration cannot stand criticism. It wants to brand critics as “offenders.” It wants to put a government seal on its attacks on journalists, commentators, and organizations whose coverage it does not like. It wants people to think twice before calling out its lies, corruption, cruelty, and abuse of power.
That is authoritarian behavior. And it is exactly why we cannot back down.
Headquarters has become one of the most powerful tools we have to reach people where they are, cut through right-wing spin, and give audiences timely, shareable content they can use to understand what is happening and push back. Every post, every share, every video, every rapid response moment helps expose the stakes of this administration’s agenda to people who may never see a press release, policy memo, or cable news segment.
And now the White House has made clear that it is paying attention.
Good.
Because we are going to keep posting. We are going to keep sharing the truth. We are going to keep calling out this administration’s attacks on our rights, our democracy, our communities, and our freedoms. And we are going to keep building the kind of digital reach that makes it impossible for Trump and his allies to operate without scrutiny.
But sustaining that work takes resources.
Your contribution helps support the team behind Headquarters: the strategists, researchers, writers, editors, producers, and digital organizers who move quickly to meet the moment, create content that breaks through, and connect millions of people to the fight against the right-wing agenda.
The White House would not be targeting this work if it did not matter.
