    Mark,

CREW urgently requested records from the State Department regarding the Board of Peace's operational plans, structure and funding.

President Trump proposed the Board of Peace in September 2025 to oversee the reconstruction of Gaza and it was officially established on January 22, 2026. Following its establishment, Trump stated that the U.S. would commit $10 billion in taxpayer funding to the Board.

Despite his large tax-dollar commitment to it, the Board’s operational plan, legal status and funding details remain unclear.

What's even more alarming is that the Board's Executive Board, which is meant to oversee the allocation of funds, is appointed solely by Trump, can be removed solely by Trump, and even includes his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

At the same time, reports that the Board has negotiated to establish a private bank account with JPMorgan raise even more questions, with little to no details about who may access or withdraw funds from the account.

The public deserves to know the government’s role in the Board of Peace and whether tax dollars are being paid to an unaccountable private entity controlled by the president.

This lack of transparency raises significant concerns about the separation of powers. The American people shouldn't have to guess what happens to billions of their tax dollars.

Congress is responsible for allocating and overseeing government spending. If any public funds are paid to the Board, Congress must be able to conduct oversight.

However, when questioned by Congress, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was unwilling or unable to clearly explain how the Board is managed or how taxpayer funds are being safeguarded.

Mark, the American people are entitled to know where the Board receives its funds, exactly how much taxpayers are paying into the fund and where the funds are going.

That’s why CREW has requested records that will reveal funds transfers, structure and operating plans that will help both Congress and the public to understand the workings of the Board of Peace.
