Repubs are trying to sneak crap through using something called “budget reconciliation”

Any minute now, the U.S. House of Representatives will be voting on a combo platter of legislation cooked up by MAGA members of Congress who are still beholden to Donald Trump.
- First on the menu is an additional $60 billion for the Pentagon and $13 billion for our nation’s “intelligence” agencies. This is on top of the more than one trillion dollars the Pentagon is already getting this year and the tens of billions the CIA, FBI, NSA, etc. are already getting this year.
- Meanwhile Trump continues waging an illegal and pointless war against Iran, which is driving up costs for everyday Americans. And he has installed a lackey with no relative experience whatsoever — in blatant violation of the law — as head of the country’s entire intelligence apparatus.
- Republicans knew they couldn’t get this funding approved through the regular legislative process. So they’re trying to sneak it through using something called “budget reconciliation” — a loophole they have exploited before to jam through otherwise unpassable laws.
- And for dessert, they apparently thought it would “sweeten” the deal if they whipped up $10 billion to implement Trump’s flagrantly anti-voter legislation, the so-called SAVE Act — even though this stew of voter suppression schemes is so anti-democratic and unpopular that it has virtually no chance of passing in the Senate.
