Rep. Ilhan Omar raises questions about undercover ICE agent at town hall

Mark — ICE may say they turned down the heat in Minnesota, but their constant harassment of my community continues.

Last week, an ICE agent sat outside a town hall meeting with my constituents in a car with mismatched license plates.

This was a potential attempt to intimidate my neighbors, surveil one of Trump’s political opponents, and target the immigrant communities I serve for enforcement.

Town hall meetings are a critically important way for me to engage with my constituents. They should be a place where anyone, regardless of immigration status, can come hear from their federal representative, ask important questions, and get connected with services without the fear of ICE violence.

The agent parked outside the meeting claimed to local law enforcement that they were there for a “drug enforcement operation” — but after everything ICE has done to Minnesotans, we have every right to have zero trust in this violent band of thugs.

They lied about the murder of Alex Pretti, they lied about the murder of Renee Good, and they have consistently lied about the brutality they unleashed on hundreds, if not thousands, of Minnesotans.

Mark, just this week Minnesotans went to the polls and nominated candidates up and down the ballot who have fought back against ICE’s occupation and are committed to dismantling this unaccountable, rogue agency.

I have been committed to abolishing ICE since Trump’s first term, and if we take the majority in Congress in November, I will put that fight front and center.
