Reject Trump's authoritarian attacks on the Smithsonian!
Reject Trump's authoritarian attacks on the Smithsonian!
Petition to the Smithsonian Board of Regents:
We urge you to reject attempts by the White House to influence the historical record of America.
Trump's newest executive order attacking the Smithsonian calls for signs outside the National Museum of American History that warn of "inaccurate information" and "ideological capture" at the institution.1
It's Trump's latest tactic to discredit the Smithsonian and push his far-right, white supremacist vision of American history. He has baselessly accused the museums of "divisive, race-centered ideology" and denounced the institution's leadership as "radical activists."2,3
Trump directly threatened the Smithsonian's funding,4 and he won't stop until his MAGA allies have rewritten history at America's top museums. The Smithsonian must stand strong against these attacks and maintain its independence.
Sign the petition: Reject Trump's attacks on the Smithsonian. Urge the Smithsonian to fight back against Trump's authoritarian attempt to control American history.
Trump's attacks have persisted for his entire second term. The White House has targeted artists of color and exhibits depicting America’s diversity. Trump even said the Smithsonian focuses too much on "how bad slavery was" in a Truth Social rant.5
Trump’s battle to exert power and influence over every aspect of society is playing out in the nation’s premier museums.
Big Tech, media corporations, universities, and big law firms have given in to Trump’s authoritarian regime, but it’s time to take a stand. The Smithsonian must protect history and refuse to bow to Trump.
Sign the petition: Tell the Smithsonian to preserve history and resist Trump’s threats!
