From the Most Adult Voice in the Room: ‘Get Him Out of There before He Kills Us All!’
We are at the Brink of Species Annihilation, by the Combination of Nuclear and Psychiatric Dangers
The 1985 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), is credited with medically educating the public on how no nuclear war was winnable, since all the doctors and hospitals in the world could be of no help in a wasteland where “the living will envy the dead”—to quote Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. Hence was raised the public consciousness that began decades of nuclear arms control.
Now, we are at the greatest risk of nuclear war since the Nuclear Age began. It is the primary reason I edited The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump in 2017 and called him, “the most dangerous man on the planet,” and “a public health emergency.” I revisited with IPPNW’s founder, Dr. Bernard Lown, who had been a mentor to my mentors and inspired my organization’s “Prescriptions for Survival.”
In 2026, the dangers have escalated exponentially, for now we have not only a man who is actively attracted to using nuclear weapons, he is vastly deteriorated, bellicose, and cornered. This is how I came to join forces with IPPNW, to call attention to the catastrophic combination of unacceptably high nuclear risk and the most dangerous, unstable, and violence-prone psychopathology possible in the sole commander of the second largest nuclear arsenal in the world. Our statement, composed even before his reckless war against Iran began, entered the Congressional Record in April.
Our spokesperson, Dr. Henry Abraham, gave a recent interview that the Independent covered under the titles, “Nobel Peace Prize winner claims Trump’s mental health is deteriorating and making him ‘more dangerous,’” and, “Nobel-winning doctor joins health experts warning of Trump’s deteriorating mental state.” It states:
Henry David Abraham, a psychiatrist, was among 36 physicians who signed an April 30 open letter calling for Trump’s removal from office,… which was entered into the Congressional Record.
[He] was asked whether his assessment had changed in the three months since.
“… if anything it’s worse…. if an airline pilot had half of the symptoms that the president of the United States has, we would not let him on an airplane, we certainly wouldn’t want to fly with him,” he added. “It doesn’t make sense, and yet, we have a system which enfolds the president’s health in a shroud of secrecy…. When a person has sole access to the nuclear armamentaria, it’s crazy…. I think we’re in even more danger of Donald Trump using a nuclear weapon in a fit of pique or rage or confusion or poor impulse control than ever before.”

In another interview, he said:
[Donald Trump] has an intoxication with nuclear weapons, but he doesn’t know anything about them. He doesn’t understand what devastating weapons they are. His idea is fundamentally they are just bigger bombs. He doesn’t understand about the long-term consequences about radioactive fallout, about the intensity of heat or firestorms or the magnitude of the blast. [J]ust to give you some perspective, if you take a sheet of newspaper and there is a nuclear blast in New York City, that sheet of newspaper will burst into flames 50 miles away from the epicenter of the blast. That is one bomb…. Well, what we are talking about in a nuclear war is fundamentally an end of civilization as we know it. That is how serious it is.
This came days after renowned economist and advisor to governments Jeffrey Sachs, who wrote the foreword to our second edition of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, said:
the situation is … probably the most dangerous moment in the world since World War II, probably even including the Cuban Missile Crisis. I say that with two psychologists [at my sides]. I think Donald Trump is literally mentally ill to a very serious extent…. A man like this should not be president….
He is president because of much deeper problems in the American political system. So, he is a symptom as well as a cause…. The American political system is deeply corrupted…. There is a degree of impulsivity, which is absolutely beyond anything that I have seen before…. Who is crazier, Trump or us? How can we not be grownups and say: “That man is a loon. Get him out of there before he kills us all!”
I respect Sachs greatly for continually speaking on our behalf. However, it is also the sign of a sick political system that cannot hear from actual experts on mental health and cannot hold hearings with those who have accurately predicted these dangers for nearly a decade. The dangers included the gradual cooptation of institutions and the contagion of symptoms we warned would occur with any body the severely mentally-impaired person is a part of, including the entire nation if not the globe for a U.S. president.
Public health expert and nonviolent activist at Ground Zero of the nuclear arms race (Bangor Naval Submarine Base) Leonard Eiger comments on this:
“One can expect that if the United States, which was perhaps the leading architect of the U.N. Charter’s regime on the use of force, decides that states can go to war whenever they perceive it to be in their interest, other states will do so, as well.” The Trump regime’s actions are setting a dangerous precedent in a perilous time….
On April 30, 2026, a group of 36 leading physicians and other doctors with expertise in mental health issued a statement calling for President Trump’s immediate, lawful removal from office for medical reasons. Their statement was entered into the Congressional Record. Their paramount concern? That Trump’s mental instability coupled with his sole, unchecked authority to order the use of nuclear weapons, makes him dangerous—“a clear and present danger to our country and to the world.”
Therefore:… We call on all members of Congress to remember their oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” and use every legal means to remove Donald Trump from office…. Our democracy, as well as Humanity’s very existence, must not be at the mercy of people who have demonstrated a complete lack of ethical and moral values, as well as a disdain for the rule of law.
When the survival of humanity is at stake, a physician’s first duty is not to treat the wounded after catastrophe—which is impossible in a nuclear holocaust—but to do whatever possible to prevent the catastrophe. Please join us in urging Congress to act.

I have followed you since 2017 and subscribe to you and have read your books. When the danger is so high what can those of us who are not American do? Is there a role for the rest of the world that would not be interference in a foreign country? I mean it’s imperative that he and his regime be removed.
