👋 Dear Mark M,
Seth often returned to the idea of suggestions as the mechanism by which experience is organized, directed, and given form.
Suggestion is an impetus to act in a given direction. Every cultural institution, every medical model, and every unspoken social rule rests on shared suggestions that people have agreed to accept as standards of behavior. These create recognizable frameworks so that even the most personal experiences can find a category. Most people never leave those frameworks. A few, by nature or choice, step outside them and must therefore learn to set up their own alternate patterns of suggestion, consciously, deliberately, and with faith.
Because Jane and Rob did not lean on the mass frameworks of society, the daily suggestions they gave themselves were especially important.
Suggestions program the mental climate in which everything else unfolds. They can accelerate healing, open creativity, or reinforce the very limitations we say we want to leave behind.
Seth teaches that suggestions are statements directed toward a particular action or hypothesis, woven into conscious thought and reason. Repeated often enough and believed, they take on a deeply habitual nature and are no longer examined. They are simply taken as literal truth.
These suggestions may be long-standing, absorbed in childhood from well-meaning parents, or formed later through daily conversation and self-talk. Some support health, vitality, and expansion. Others predict limitation or disaster and organize experience around those predictions. Every suggestion acts as a precise organizer. It gathers the resources of Framework 2 and brings into Framework 1 exactly what has been asked for, whether desired or undesired.
💬 Quote of the Week
“Suggestion operates as an organizer, bringing you from Framework 2 exactly what you want.”

🔬 Integration: Work with Suggestion
Here are a few of Seth’s actual directions, followed by guidance for creating your own.
From the material:
Each morning, briefly together: “Dedicate yourselves to your creative pursuits. Imagine a calm and peaceful aura surrounding the house. Tell yourselves that your work will be productive, and that Ruburt’s body will improve as the day goes on.” Seth called these “immensely important” psychological sets that program the day.
Large, roomy suggestions he recommended using daily: “I can think more creatively and positively in all areas of my life. I can move faster and more surely in all areas of my life. My body can feel better and perform better. I can enjoy each day more.”
“I can trust the physician within, and the ancient wisdom of my body.”
For the dream state: “Have Ruburt give himself suggestions that he will dream of his Turkish life, for there is information there that can help him now.” And: “The suggestion that he have healing dreams will work now.”
On reversing limitation: When Jane repeatedly told herself she could not walk properly, Seth said simply, “Try reversing the suggestion.”

How to write your own suggestions:
Keep them general enough that they do not clash with present physical evidence (avoid rigid details).
Phrase them in the present or as natural capability (“I can…,” “My body knows how…,” “I am open to…”).
Give them when you are relatively relaxed: morning, before sleep, or after a quiet period, so they connect more easily with Framework 2.
Prefer short, clear statements over long lists of details. Intent matters more than volume.
When you notice a negative suggestion operating, name it and reverse it for a manageable period of time (“For the rest of this evening I will not project that outcome”).
Support the verbal suggestion with simple physical reminders if helpful (an object left in sight, a chair placed for easier movement, shoes worn for part of the day). Seth noted that objects themselves carry suggestive value.
Suggestion is already organizing your days. The only question is whether the directions you are giving are the ones you actually want to live by. Begin with one or two clear, roomy statements. Repeat them with confidence. Then watch what Framework 2 begins to assemble in response.
